Holiday weekends…these are the days that life should be made of—friends, fun, sun, water, and fireworks! Happy birthday, America!
The excitement started on Thursday night when Tiger arrived in town. We skipped right on out to the Glass Cactus because apparently that's where my 4th of July weekends are suppossed to be spent. (It has worked out pretty good two years in a row!) Finally, I made it to a Ryan Turner concert after several attempts. I was still a little puny, but it was clear when he started singing my favorite song that I was going to survive. As if on cue, I jumped right up from our table in the back (sorry for sudden and shocking information—but I was kind of lurking in the shadows) and ran down front to sing along. It happened so fast that Tiger and Ashley weren't sure what was happening!
Friday, Tiger, Ashley, Brooke, Maile, and I headed out to Eagle Mountain Lake.
It was perfect…we laid in the grass, ate snacks (there's nothing like Cheez-its), soaked in the sun, laughed,
dipped in the lake, rode on the boat,
and ate some more. Then we headed back to Lewisville. Unfortunately, after one of those days you tend to have the look of one of those days...but you still have to have a "family picture".
I have to say that there was a nice ambiance sitting on our "little" beach towel by the canal watching the fireworks. The sirens in the background just added to the elements and made for a few stories on "Jenny-Jen".
Now, that's the life! (editor's note: there is one other participant in this portion of the evening whose identity is being concealed to protect the stalker--hehe)
Saturday, we kept it going by the pool! A little sun-kissed just makes you look like summer. Then it was back to the Glass Cactus.
The view from the deck over the water and the sweat rolling across your skin…well…it's Texas!
Old friends and new friends--great friends, and good times!
*much to my surprise,
-no one ran away screaming
-made ugly jokes
-pointed and laughed
-or in any other way made me feel less than beautiful, while I was feeling geeky!
