I'm sure I just broke all rules of blogging. Last night I was too tired to load the pictures that I had taken, so I didn't. Just now I went back and edited yesterday's blog to add the photo and made a few adjustments. My brain was just barely there last night.
Anyway, today brought another long day of driving. We were in the car for about 8 hours. I was still very tired this morning and wanted a nap so bad in the afternoon, but we made it. We had only a few more miles in Arkansas this morning, then we crossed Missouri, Illinois, and on into Indiana.
In keeping with last year's tradition, I tried to get Mitchell's picture next to a sign for each state, but Illinois was difficult since the state line was in the middle of the Mississsippi River.
Mitchell and Grandaddy found out about my fear of bridges. I crossed several long and high ones during the past two days...Ashley, you would be proud. Mitchell thought that it was funny and clearly thought I was joking when I asked him not to talk about it while we were approaching or crossing the bridge. Otherwise the driving conditions were pretty uneventful through flat, farmland. I was most intrigued by the small churches, silos, and old barns that showed the character of this region.
By the time we entered Carmel, I couldn't have been more ready to be here. Nonda's house is lovely and feels just as much like her home as the one in Tyler. She fixed us dinner on the grill, which was a nice change to the fast food of the last two days. I am beginning to feel human again. Really, I am truly happy to be here with my family and sharing this time with them!
